Meet the People Behind the Camp

Jaisalmer Sam Desert Safari was founded by Yunus Khan, a Jaisalmer local who grew up watching his city transform into one of Rajasthan’s most visited destinations. Having spent over 15 years hosting travellers from across India and the world, he started this camp with a single conviction: that a desert stay should feel personal, not packaged. 

Every member of our team is local — our camel handlers, our cooks, our musicians. The dal baati churma served at dinner is made from a recipe that has not changed in twenty years. When you arrive, someone who actually knows this desert will be there to receive you..

The Maharaja tent brings a royal Rajasthani stay to the heart of the Thar Desert. The desert in summer hits 45°C and January nights drop to 4°C; this tent is built for both.

Camel Safari -

₹100 per Person The sunset camel safari at Sam Sand Dunes is what Jaisalmer is known for. At 5:30pm, the dunes turn deep orange, your shadow stretches thirty feet behind you, and the city disappears entirely.

₹1,000 – ₹2,500 per Jeep 4×4 dune bashing across three major dunes at speed. The stomach-drop of cresting a 30-metre dune not knowing what is on the other side. Max 6 per jeep.

How much does a desert camp in Jaisalmer cost?+

Our desert camp packages start at ₹1,800 for 2 members (Deluxe Tent) and go up to ₹5,500 for 2 members (Super Luxury Maharaja Tent). Children up to 6 years stay free. All tents include dinner, snacks, breakfast, tea/coffee, mineral water, cultural program, dance program, DJ party, and welcome mujra. What is the best time to visit Jaisalmer for a desert safari?+

October to March. October–November: uncrowded, clear skies, ideal photography light. December–February: peak season, book 2–3 weeks ahead. The Jaisalmer Desert Festival (Maru Mahotsav) is in February. Avoid May–June (45°C+).

Is pickup from Jaisalmer Railway Station included in tour packages?+

Yes. All packages include complimentary pickup from Jaisalmer Railway Station and Jaisalmer Airport on arrival, and drop on departure. Share your train or flight details when booking and our driver will be waiting at the station.
